What a professional summary should do

A professional summary is a short opening that shows what you do, where you add value and which evidence supports your claim. It leads with relevant experience, skills or education rather than vague promises about the future.

Use a simple four-part formula

Start with your job title, field or degree, then add the experience level that is true for you. Follow with two or three skills from the vacancy and finish with one relevant contribution you could explain in an interview.

Write truthful examples

An experienced example might connect procurement experience, supplier relationships and a verified reduction in invoice discrepancies. A graduate can connect a degree, internship or project to a real contribution such as building a tracker used by a team.

Tailor your summary for UAE applications

Reflect genuine requirements, industry terms and relevant location context. State languages, certifications, software, notice period or work-eligibility details only when accurate and appropriate.

Check it against the rest of the CV

Compare the summary with experience so dates, job titles, tools and numbers match. Remove empty adjectives, first-person phrasing and claims you cannot demonstrate.

Questions before you start?

How long should a professional summary be?

Keep it to a focused paragraph of about three or four sentences, or a few concise lines. Include only details that support the target role.

Should a graduate include a summary?

Yes, if it leads with education, projects, internships or transferable skills and includes a real contribution instead of claiming experience you do not have.

Should I use the same summary for every job?

Keep core facts consistent, but adjust the role title, relevant skills, evidence and accurate terminology to match each vacancy.
