Start with the job description

Compare responsibilities, skills, tools and qualifications in the vacancy with your CV. Add relevant terms only when accurate and remove unrelated detail that hides your strongest evidence.

Check your opening profile

Make sure your headline and summary identify the role you want and the value you offer. Replace vague claims with specific strengths, outcomes, industries or tools.

Proofread content line by line

Check spelling, grammar, punctuation, dates, job titles, company names, phone numbers, email addresses and links. Read slowly, read aloud or ask another person to review it.

Make formatting consistent

Use one date style, one approach to headings, consistent bullet punctuation and aligned spacing. Confirm page breaks do not separate headings from their content.

Complete the submission check

Open the exact exported file to confirm fonts, links, spacing and page order. Use a professional filename, attach the correct cover letter and review recipient, subject line and deadline before sending.

Questions before you start?

Should I use the same CV for every job?

Keep a reliable master CV, but tailor the summary, skills and achievement bullets to each relevant vacancy without overstating experience.

Is PDF always the best format?

PDF preserves layout, but follow the employer’s or portal’s requested format. Open the saved file before sending.

Should I include a photo or visa details?

Follow specific employer instructions and consider relevance and privacy. Do not add sensitive information simply because a template includes it.
